- Inputs- Accepts up to eight component video and RGsB, RGBS, or RGBHV sources on BNC connectors. Compatible with HDTV 480p, 720p, and 1080i component video formats.
- Outputs- Two different scaled signal outputs available. Each “program” or “preview” output is provided simultaneously on five BNCs and one 15-pin HD connector; “program” output is also available on optional DVI connector. A black screen is also available for output.
- Seamless switching- A glitch-free cut eliminates the noise and jitter caused by switching between unsynchronized inputs.
- Digital transition effects- Twelve dissolve, wipe, and title effects are provided. Each effect provides a user-adjustable duration ranging up to five seconds.
- Color space converter options- Four preset component video color space converter options: SMPTE, Beta 50, Beta 60, and HDTV.
- Scaled output resolutions- The SGS 408 offers computer-video output rates: 640 x 480, 800 x 600, 832 x 624, 1024 x 768, 1280 x 1024, and 1360 x 1024. For plasma displays, the SGS 408 features these rates: 848 x 480, 852 x 480, 1280 x 768, and 1360 x 765. The SGS 408 also provides HDTV 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p output rates.
- Accu-RATE Frame Lock (AFL™)- A patented technology exclusive to Extron that solves frame rate conversion issues experienced by video scalers. When video input and output refresh rates differ, there are certain points in time when the two rates cross over each other. The result is a glitch or image freeze on the display. AFL solves this problem by locking the output frame rate to the input frame rate.
- Key capability- Using digital processing, users can key text or graphics for display on the program output.
- Test pattern output- The SGS 408 provides five test patterns: crop, crosshatch, grayscale, alternating pixel, and color bars. Each pattern may be output on both the “program” and “preview” or only the “preview.”
- Picture controls- Brightness, contrast, horizontal and vertical shift, horizontal and vertical centering, freeze frame, eight user-selectable levels of horizontal filtering, and five user-selectable levels of vertical filtering are provided. Horizontal filtering minimizes the loss of picture detail, and vertical filtering reduces flicker.
- Memory locations- Picture settings can be saved and auto-recalled for up to 16 memories per input. 128 memories available for manual recall via RS-232.
- RS-232 remote control- Extron Simple Instruction Set (SIS) is provided for RS-232 control via third-party control or Extron’s Windows®-based control program.
- RCP 1000 & RCP 2000 port- A 4-pin XLR connector is provided for connection to an RCP 1000, which allows remote control of the switcher up to 1,000 feet away.
- ECP 1000 port- A 9-pin D connector is provided for connection to an ECP 1000 event control panel for multi-screen effects.
- Front panel security lockout- This feature locks out all front panel functions except for input selection; all other functions, however, remain active through RS-232.
- Internal international power supply- The 100-240VAC, 50/60 Hz, autoswitchable internal power supply provides worldwide power compatibility.
